Detailed description (English): The ZAP Taxi Club is the first comprehensive electrification initiative for taxis in Athens. Developed by Sirec Energy S.A. in partnership with NBG Leasing & FREENOW and the collaboration with industry leaders, this project aims to promote sustainability and support taxi drivers in their transition to zero emissions with a new fast-charging network exclusively for electric taxis. Together, we are paving the way for cleaner shared public spaces and greener cities.
Here's how it works:
Taxi licence owners can trade in their old conventional vehicles for brand-new electric taxis through a financial leasing agreement with NBG Leasing.
The program offers full coverage for vehicle maintenance, insurance, and necessary energy, along with a government subsidy for the purchase.
Owners of the new electric taxis, now proud members of the ZAP Taxi Club, will join FREENOW's 'Green' fleet and gain priority in the platform's loyalty program for drivers.
It is also noted that taxi owners, through the acquisition of a new electric vehicle, benefit from zero maintenance costs, savings of at least 30% on the total cost of operating their taxi, direct access to ZAP's 24/7 fast charging network and higher revenues due to priority distribution of electric vehicles to passengers.
Detailed description (original language): To ZAP Taxi Club δημιουργήθηκε από την SirecEnergy, αναπτύσσει ένα νέο δίκτυο ταχείας φόρτισης στην Αττική, αποκλειστικής χρήσης για τα ηλεκτρικά ταξί του ZAP Taxi Club. Τα νέα ηλεκτρικά ταξί μπορούν να τα αποκτήσουν οι ιδιοκτήτες παλαιών συμβατικών οχημάτων ταξί με χρηματοδότηση από την Εθνική Leasing, έχοντας πλήρη κάλυψη συντήρησης οχήματος, ασφάλισης και απαιτούμενης ενέργειας, σε συνδυασμό με τη σχετική κρατική επιδότηση για την αγορά. Στη συνέχεια, οι ιδιοκτήτες των νέων ηλεκτρικών ταξί – μέλη πλέον του ZAP Taxi Club - εντάσσονται στην πλατφόρμα της FREENOW, συγκεκριμένα στον στόλο ‘’Green Taxi’’ και αυτόματα αποκτούν προτεραιότητα στο πρόγραμμα επιβράβευσης συνεργατών οδηγών της εταιρείας. Σημειώνεται επίσης, ότι οι ιδιοκτήτες ταξί, μέσω της απόκτησης ενός νέου ηλεκτρικού οχήματος, επωφελούνται από τα μηδενικά κόστη συντήρησης, την εξοικονόμηση τουλάχιστον 30% στο συνολικό κόστος λειτουργίας του ταξί τους, την άμεση πρόσβαση στο δίκτυο ταχείας φόρτισης της ZAP 24/7 και τα υψηλότερα έσοδα λόγω προτεραιότητας διάθεσης των ηλεκτρικών οχημάτων στους επιβάτες.

Objectives: The initiative aims to promote electromobility in Athens so that drivers make the transition to electric taxis using EU funds. This includes a total of 1,000 vehicles and potential expansion to other Greek big cities in the future. The project will provide solutions such as:
Charging: To set 10 mega charging stations (incl 60 chargers) with specific technology for drivers to charge very quickly - the first to be placed at OAKA
Leasing: 5-year financing with insurance coverage, including monthly costs for leasing, maintenance and charging.
Priority: For rides with electric taxis via FREENOW app
