Detailed description (English): A major step toward safer and more sustainable mobility is currently underway in Poing: Along Gruber Straße, a new 1-kilometre walking and cycling path is being built as part of the town’s effort to improve everyday active travel. The project is scheduled for completion in September 2025.
One of the key goals of this measure is to eliminate a known accident hotspot. The former two-way cycle path is being replaced by two separated cycle lanes, each designated for one direction of travel. This new layout will significantly enhance safety and clarity for all road users – especially for cyclists and pedestrians.
The new infrastructure supports Poing’s broader mission to promote active mobility, reduce traffic risks, and create a more liveable, people-friendly environment. It’s a local solution with long-term impact – and an example of how communities are rethinking mobility in line with the goals of the European Mobility Week.
