Detailed description (English): Less travel and eco-friendly commuting: this is the challenge for Bureau Veritas Italia employees.
The company has launched several initiatives to persuade colleagues to reduce travelling by promoting smart working and improving their green travel.
A survey has been carried out among the Milan office employees, investigating their habits about means of transport to and from the workplace. The BVI commuting plan was implemented, focused on the Milan head office– where most of the BVI population is concentrated- but some best practice and pilot actions will be extended to other major Italian offices, to promote low-carbon mobility.
An Awareness-raising campaign has been launched, to orient mobility choices towards greater efficiency and sustainability.
Mobility Ambassadors have been identified and challenged to leave their own car in the garage and change their commuting routines with passes offered by BVI to travel with the public transport network and/or by electric scooters or bicycles . After one month, the Ambassadors will share their experience to all colleagues on the BV digital platform created to support and allow a bottom-up participation process.
In addition, BVI has signed company agreements with kindergartens and gyms near the offices to reduce the proximity of travel.
To encourage bikers, a changing room has been dedicated on the ground floor of the BV Milan Office.
Last but not least, remote working has become widespread, and employees can choose to work at home 2 days a week, with positive impact on their work-life balance as well as global climate change.
