Detailed description (English): University of Warsaw is located in the old town district, right next to the royal route.
This space is greatly accesible by public transport (11 bus lines, metro station) but still the center of the campus is occupied by cars. The main parking lot, which is the subject of our concern is placed in front of the most representative building, which is also the first thing you notice while walking down the royal rout (the most popular street in Warsaw).
While there are over 180 parking spaces on the campus, which is more than enough for such a well-located institution, there is limited public space for students. We would like to change that. We created a movement dedicated to removing parking zone in the heart of the campus. We conducted an extensive research regarding the needs and opinions on the current usage of the area. Almost a thousand students took part in the survey, most of them shared our view. We even got the support of the faculty staff. Our main goal is to make the space as students-friendly as possible. We plan on doing so by removing the cars, which is our greatest goal. Besides that we would love to change the space from the concrete jungle into a green area, dedicated to spending free time outdoors. We are also dedicated to keep the representativeness of this historic landmark.
Target group(s): Students, workers and professors of University and everyone else using the space
Objectives: Changing the main square of the University from parking lot into student-friendly space.
