Detailed description (English): 1. To implement a “Car-Free Day” that will take place on every street where the 12 schools of the Raul Proenca Schools Group are located, preferably on the 22 September 2016, without cars and with public activities and animation performed by the students and their parents:
a) free distribution or direct sales stickers "30 km/h zone" for clothes and / or vehicle;
b) distribution of A4 brochures with educational explanations to parents about the reason for this initiative of AERP (FAQ_30 km/h zone);
c) paintings with photoluminescent ink markings on road pavements of the streets where the 12 schools of the AERP school group are located, by their own students, with the guidance of teachers ("30 km/h zone", cycling mobility icons, children, colors, etc.), clearly indicating that this is a special street due to the sensitive pedestrian flow of the school population (location and study of the paintings to develop later);
d) redefining some pedestrian crosswalks, considering its possible state of degradation;
e) sports and leisure activities, including sports, dancing and those with bicycles, skateboards, scooters or other;
2. To implement a week of school activities that celebrate the idea of "Smart mobility--->Strong economy", the 2016 EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK theme
a) The activities will be promoted by the teachers and their students within every class
3. To implement permanent long-term measures that encourages students and their parents to opt for sustainable modes of transport
a) to actively promote "30 km/h zones" with the public authorities, namely the City Council and the Police force;
b) to create public bike parking zones on every one of the 12 schools of the AERP school group;
c) to create a public demand within the local authorities, namely the city council, for the need of bike infrastructure, namely bike sharing public schemes and clearly marked bike lanes and driveways (horizontal traffic signs on the pavement) ;
Target group(s): — Around 2,500 students and their parents and families (an estimate of 10,000 citizens of Caldas da Rainha)
Objectives: 1. To promote the social value of safe "30 Km/h zones" on every street where schools are located, valuing public spaces and their pedestrian and cycling uses
2. To promote long term cultural and civic attitudes towards the valuing of safe public streets and spaces
