Detailed description (English): Our project has two stages: STAGE 1, the organizational implementation (2022), and STAGE 2, scale-up regionally (2023).
For the first year, we focus on reducing our organization’s CO2 emissions and thus, contributing to air quality improvement, health protection, and a cleaner & healthier environment for all the inhabitants of the city of Piatra Neamț. We continually promote amongst our employees the use of alternative/sustainable transport modes and motivate them to migrate towards more sustainable means of transportation.
We developed an action plan to help us achieve our goal, which includes partnering with our city (Piatra Neamț) mayor’s office in collaborating on on-site green mobility events.
For the second year, we plan to scale up regionally by attracting other public municipalities and private organizations with over 200 employees in North-East Romania to implement this pilot project. North-East RDA as a good practice model will provide support through mentoring, training, and technical assistance for implementation.
Target group(s): In the process of implementing our SUMP, we intend to involve the:
municipality of Piatra-Neamt, to identify and solve infrastructure problems for vulnerable groups, and
private actors & civil society (cycling NGOs, environmentalists) to help with the promotion & implementation of the project.
For the second stage, it will be required to involve the decision-makers at the municipalities level that will adhere to this idea, civil society, citizens, entrepreneurial environment, and, last but not least local, regional, and national mass media, with the role of sharing and promoting the project idea at regional, national and European level.
Objectives: Overall, we are addressing the following keys for sustainable and just cities:
- Power dynamics - the project aims to shift the focus of urban mobility from cars to people by promoting more sustainable means of transportation and accessibility);
- Nature - empowering people to contribute to improving city air quality and to a cleaner & healthier environment by migrating to sustainable city transportation);
- Technology - using Appimotion (a SAS urban mobility application from our partners in Colombia) because our project aims to facilitate the transition towards sustainable mobility and put people in control of their transportation costs by cutting them down);
- Regional - our project implies multi-stakeholder partnerships and collaborations, both in stage 1 of implementation and, consequently, in the 2nd stage, as we plan to scale up this initiative on a regional level and implement it in the six counties and cities in the North-East Region of Romania);
- Diversity - by involving the extended community.
