Detailed description (English): September is a mobility month at the Võsukese kindergarten in Jüri, Estonia.The parents are challenged to choose to bring their children to the kindergarten without a car for at least ten days. By using a bicycle, kick bike, public transport or walking. In each kindergarten group, there is a table where the child and the parent can mark the chosen mode of movement. Those who complete the goal will receive a little prize. In addition, there are bicycle trips organized for children and a bicycle-traffic lane every week so children can learn bicycle handling skills and traffic rules. The employees challenge is to collect 10 car-free days per team (3 people in the team). The requirement is that all members of the staff teams must do this on the same day. The team that collects 10 car-free days will receive a prize. In addition, weekly outdoor training sessions are held for the staff (joint walking lunch, strength training outdoors). In the end of September we also organize sport series “Jüriloppet” first stage for the community. The first stage is duathlon where children can pass the track of cycling and running with their parents.
Target group(s): Children aged 1,5 - 7 years, parents, kindergarten employees. Influence group around 600 people. (+ the „Jüriloppet“ participants around 500 children and their parents).
Objectives: To promote healthy lifestyle and wellbeing trough the activating mobility . To encourage people (children, parents, employees and community) to prefer walking, cycling etc instead of using car. The aim is also to promote safety and give children lifelong skills. And environmental effect is also really important to us to share.
