Detailed description (English): The Ministry of Transport and Communications organised the “Sustainable Mobility Fair”, the European Mobility Week opening event in Vilnius' Lukiškių Square on 16 September. The opening involved panel discussions with experts from Lithuania's transport sector and sustainable mobility, the European Parliament, the European Commission, the Confederation of Lithuanian Industrialists and businesses, and the fair with stands from companies, organisations and institutions active in the sustainable mobility sector.
The “Sustainable Mobility Fair” featured a wide-ranging debate on what changes are in store for car drivers in Lithuania from 2035 onwards, changes in driving habits and culture on the country's roads, the prospects for public transport, and the realities of pedestrians and cyclists. The discussions were broadcasted live on LRT (national broadcast) and the Ministry's Facebook page.
The event also focused on the inevitable future mode of transport - autonomous transport. An artificial intelligence-generated exhibition has also been displayed in Lukiškių Square, showing what today's popular transportation, such as trains and ships, will look like at the end of this century.
The “Sustainable Mobility Fair” also featured a fair with stands from businesses, organisations and institutions active in the sustainable mobility sector. Citizens have been invited to try out interactive activities and games and discover an interactive map of railway stations and an educational scooter race track.
