Detailed description (English): FIAB promotes cycling as a powerful solution against climate change and the energy crisis and for 10 years has been active in the organization of “European Sustainable Mobility Week…by Bicycle”. With 190 local associations in the country and more than 287 events within the 2023 European Mobility Week (more details and all the events www.andiamoinbici.it ), FIAB also coordinates the network “Comuni Ciclabili FIAB” for the campaign.
This year's themes, each one developed with a dedicated series of events, include public space and road safety (parking day) , reducing car dependency (car free week), active commuting (bike to work) and urban physical activity/sport (sport city day).
Park(ing) day is a global, public, participatory project where people across the world temporarily repurpose curbside parking spaces and convert them into public parks and social spaces to advocate for safer, greener, and more equitable streets for people.
Car Free Week encourages all citizens to replace private cars for one week and move with active, sustainable and public means of transport during their daily commute and activities.
Bike To Work Day is entirely focused on sustainable and active commuting, connecting local administrations, private companies and workers. A series of events, workshops and actions occur to promote, stimulate and sustain cycling as one of the best options to reach the workplace.
Sport City Day is the urban event organized by the Sport City Foundation and sustained by FIAB that transforms public spaces into outdoor gyms for physical activity and socialization
