OPENING & AWARENESS DAY
1) Opening of the Week
The Mayor of Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Ms. Ayşe ÜNLÜCE will walk from the municipal service buildings, The Mayor of Odunpazarı (District) Municipality, Mr. Kazım KURT, will park in our new Park&Ride area and use the tram from the Odunpazarı (District) Municipal Service Building and The Mayor of Tepebaşı Municipality, Dr. Ahmet ATAÇ will ride a bike from the Tepebaşı Municipal Service Building. They will all gather at Ulus Monument Square (around the Monument of Respect for Women and Mothers).
At the same time, a bicycle convoy will start from Velespit (Bicycle) Park. The march and parade will be broadcast live on a screen installed at Ulus Monument Square.
The mayors will be welcomed by representatives of all ages carrying banners, and colorful pinwheels. The mayors will deliver speeches highlighting the importance of the week, and Metropolitan Mayor will also announce the week’s full program of activities. Additionally, the mayor of our sister city, Linz, will be with us at the opening of European Mobility Week.
Representatives and members of all NGOs that represent various segments of the population and respond to our call for action will also participate in order to ensure that the call for action is embraced by all segments of society.

Carbon Footprint Calculation Stand
In cooperation with the Department of Climate Change and Zero Waste, a booth will be set up at Adalar (touristic center) and/or in front of Espark Shopping Mall where citizens’ carbon footprints will be calculated throughout the day based on their transportation choices.

Sustainable Mobility Orienteering
Participants will walk or cycle to pre-determined points in the city, completing orientation tasks.
At each checkpoint, questions about the city’s historical and cultural heritage will be asked, turning the activity into both a physical and intellectual challenge.
The event will be organized in groups, encouraging teamwork while also fostering a sense of competition.
In this way, mobility will be combined with fun, learning, and social interaction.
A prize will be given to the winning group at the end.

Green Match
Together with Eskişehirspor, “consortia members of sustainable transportaion” will be hosted at Eskişehirspor - Nazilli football match.
Fans will be encoureged to walk or cycle to the stadium, through increased ring/shutteles and fanzone events.
Awareness and promotion stands on sustainable mobility and carbon footprint reduction will be set near to the stadium.
Players will start to ceremony with a banner encouraging the bicycle lifestyle.

Selected streets in Huzur and Uluönder neighborhoods will be closed to vehicle traffic all day. Children will be encouraged to play and interact freely in the streets.

Step Challenge
Starting officially on 16 September, Eskişehir will join the European Step Challenge.
With the Walk15 application, each registered participant’s steps will be added to the city’s total, making our city one of the most active in Europe during the Mobility Week.
