Consultation and participatory workshops are underway for the "15-minute Open Neighborhood" incorporating proposals, ideas, opinions and designs for the creation of targeted gentle travel and walkability routes in all Municipal Communities, as a tool for designing new sustainable urban mobility. At the same time, the Municipal Transportation project and the Regulation for Light Personal Electric Vehicles are in the implementation stage. All plans will have consultations and involvement of stakeholders around the mobility week.
A number of measures and activities concerning reduction of use of private cars and promotion of sustainable mobility, creation of a safe network of bicycle lanes is already part of the Climate Contract Athens NetZeroCities. In autumn 2025 will present the updated plan for a network of 25 km of bicycle lanes (17,5 km will be developed by the Municipality of Athens and 8 km by the Region of Attica (in Athens). A number of 25 bicycle parking and charging stations will be developed in Athens in 2026.
