Umeå (Umea) organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2014, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
During the european mobility week the region of Västerbotten are going to arrange a sustainable week. All organisations, companys and also the public are encouraged to make their own events during this week.

The City of Umeås actions during the week are as follows.

Photo competition, take a photo of yourself and your bike and share it on instagram, facebook etc. The best photos wins prices.

What fits in a parking space? An area as big as one parking space are going to be filled with something much more exciting. This more creative parking space are supposed to be showed on the town square.

There will also be information on mobility management on the town square.


Under Europeiska trafikantveckan kommer Västerbottenregionen att anordna en hållbar vecka. Alla organisationer, företag och även allmänheten uppmanas att göra sina egna arrangemang under denna vecka.

Staden Umeås aktiviteter under veckan är följande:

Fototävling, ta ett foto av dig själv och din cykel och dela den på instagram, facebook etc. Bästa bilderna vinner priser.

Vad passar i en parkeringsplats? Ett område som lika stor som en parkeringsplats kommer att fyllas med något mycket mer spännande. Denna mer kreativa parkeringsplats är tänkt att visas upp på torget.

Det kommer också att finnas information om mobility management på torget.

In Umeås award winning comprehensive plan the citys is focusing on building the "5km-city" to make it easier for the inhabitants to travel in a sustainable way. Some of the measures are:

Park and bike - For people living outside of the city with no other possibility than going by car to work we have installed special parking places with bike cabinets. So they can travel by bike the last few km to work instead of taking their car through the city centre.

New lockable bicycle stands are being build in the city.

Nygatan, a long road that are going through the city are being rebuild with focus on cyclist instead of cars.

A whole bunch of new bicycle stands have been place out at the Umeå central station.


I Umeås prisbelönta översiktsplan fokuserar staden på att bygga "5km-stad" för att göra det lättare för invånarna att resa på ett hållbart sätt. Några av de dessa verksamheterna är:

Park och cykel - För människor som bor utanför staden utan någon annan möjlighet än att ta bilen till jobbet har vi har installerat särskilda parkeringsplatser med cykelskåp, så att kan resa med cykel de sista km till jobbet istället för att ta sin bil genom stadens centrum.

Nya låsbara cykelställ håller på att bygga i staden.

Nygatan, en lång väg som går genom staden håller på att byggas om med fokus på cyklister i stället för på bilar.

Många cykelställ har placerat ut vid Umeå centralstation.
