All week
Hackney Council are organising a full week programme of events and publicity of initiatives designed to reduce traffic congestion and to make it easier for more people to get around the borough by walking, cycling or public transport. The week includes the launch of the second year of the EU funded STARS project for schools to increase the number of students cycling to school.
Hackney Council are also consulting on a ten year Transport Strategy to improve and want to hear from residents: hackney.gov.uk/consultation
On Saturday 27th September, Mare Street, the main shopping street in Hackney Central, will be host to an event to celebrate Car Free Day
Hackney Council has already closed the road to motorised traffic. We hope that by filling it with activity we will help everyone to see how streets can work better for people on foot.
