Active school campaign in Rae
For the third year in a row, Rae municipality invites children of schools and kindergartens to partcipate in the active school campaign in the month of September. Children are encouraged to walk, bike, scoot or take the bus to school. Even if they are brought to school by car from further away, we recommended walking at least the last 200m to the school entrance. Children mark their mobility modes on a work sheet in class and teacher submit the results after every two weeks via the campaign website or by email. The most active classes will be rewarded (classes where proportionally to the class size most children travelled to school in an active or sustainable way). Prizes will also be drawn among all groups that collected statistics about their mobility modes for at least three weeks. Local businesses are invited to support the campaign.

Car-free day Car-free day

On 20 September 2025 Rae municipality in Estonia will host the Wellbeing and Mobility Festival in Jüri as part of European Mobility Week. Taking place from 12:00 to 16:00 in front of the Jüri Health Centre, the festival highlights both physical activity and mental wellbeing under the theme “Laugh for Health”. Part of the adjacent streets will be closed for motor traffic to allow more space for the festival area.
The main stage programme includes an improvised theatre performance showing how laughter is a vitamin for mental health, as well as an engaging laughter yoga session. Visitors can also explore a wide range of hands-on activities: disc golf and cycling workshops, outdoor games, nutrition and wellbeing sessions, and creative cultural experiences. Used bicycles will be on sale, with mechanics offering bike repair and inner tube replacement workshops. A unique highlight is the opportunity to try out how people with disabilities experience mobility in public space, increasing awareness and empathy.. The festival invites all generations to move, learn and laugh together.
