OSCAR, ȘARPELE HOINAR Campaign
"Oscar, Șarpele Hoinar" is a campaign designed for primary school , developed to encourage walking and cycling - with children, parents and teachers being the main target group.
Primary Schools in Brașov will take part in a new edition of the OSCAR Campaign during the European Mobility Week (September 16-22) plus the next week, until 03 October.
The campaign aims to:
- Spread active mobility among children, parents and teachers;
- Increase safety and air quality in the area of schools and routes to school;
- Encourage sustainable travel choices, even after primary school.
Each participating school monitors their travel to school and encourages sustainable alternatives. The children earn colored dots for each sustainable trip and are encouraged to collect as many dots as possible.
OSCAR aims to promote sustainable mobility among children, parents and teachers, to improve safety and quality of life in the school area and to encourage long-term sustainable travel behavior, helping to reduce carbon emissions.
By walking and cycling, children become aware of their surroundings and develop road safety skills. They also improve their ability to anticipate other road users. In addition, walking and cycling contributes to the recommended amount of daily exercise that children need, reducing traffic congestion and parking pressure in the school environment. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the impact of mobility on health and the environment, and to promote long-term behavioral changes.
