City of Turku is implementing two actions influencing fluency of smart transportation. Section of public transportation launces new bus line, so called Backbone line, with fewer stops, more direct routes and right of way for buses. Gap between buses is only seven and a half minutes. Planning department is building a new pedestrian bridge across to river Aura, in city centrum. Bridge is ment to ease pedestrian and cycling traffic in downtown and make it more safe. Bridge is intent to be ready by end of year 2013.
Car-free day
Turku carries out a Car-free day 2013 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
