The measure seeks to pedestrianise permanently part of Triq is-Sorijiet iz-Zghar tal-Fqar which is enclosed by Pjazza San Pawl and Triq il-Kbira San Guzepp, Hamrun. As part of the measure, Hamrun Local Council also plans to build a new, safe and fully accessible square and playing area for younger children. This shall serve as a recreational space and as well as a 'green lung' for the highly urbanised locality.

Hamrun carries out a Car-free day 2019 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
