The trainstation is undergoing tranformation into a travel center to make an easier transition between bus and train for travellers, wich will helping people to choose public transport instead of cars

Car-free day
Smedjebacken carries out a Car-free day 2011 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
