The city of Bijeljina has planned public events and activities every day during the period 16 – 22 September 2023.

Raising awareness about the importance of sustainable urban mobility and getting feedback and suggestions from the citizens through surveys will be conducted every day throughout the EMW.

The EMW 2023 opening will be marked by an “open air” press conference, at which city officials will present the EMW agenda, invite citizens to join activities, emphasize the importance of SUM and inform what the city has done so far on implementation of the SUMP.
This will be followed by the organization of the event “Fitness for kids” in the city park.

On 17 Sep, the event “Roll up”, at which pre-school, primary and secondary school age children will gather with their roller skates and scooters, competing in different age groups and promoting active ways of moving.

School age kids will have the opportunity to learn more about traffic rules when riding a bike, through a polygon which will be put up on 18 Sep in the main square in the city center, where they will practice.

The 19 Sep will remind on the importance of inclusion, based on the LNOB (Leave no one behind) principle, when children with and without disabilities will jointly participate in sports and recreation activities, which will be organized for them in the city park.

Secondary school students will organize a workshop for primary school students on 21 Sep, at which they will learn about the benefits of active ways of moving, traffic security and how they can contribute to saving energy.

The 2023 EMW will close on 22 Sep with the public event “20 for health” at which will gather bicycle fans who will participate in the 20+ km bike tour, rest in a local green oasis where they will receive information about the 2023 EMW topic and importance of SUM.

Citizens will be provided the opportunity to exercise with a professional fitness trainer in the main city center street (Fitness for adults), which shall be closed for car traffic during the period 16 – 22 Sep from 5 PM, while on 22 Sep it will be closed for car traffic 24 hours (car-free day).

On behalf of the city of Bijeljina, all activities / events are organized by the Section for Local Economic Development and European Integration in cooperation with relevant internal Departments and external partners from the private, public and NGO sector.

Bijeljina carries out a Car-free day and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
