Further info
Several narrow streets occupied by parked cars on both sides were transformed so that a 3-meter wide pavement is created on both sides of the street, while no car can park anymore. Over 150 parking places were eliminated in these streets (Chrysostomou Smirnis street, Grigoriou Palama street, Romanou street, Filikis Eterias street, Morgendaou street, Lori Margariti street, Dimitriou Margariti street, Stratigou Kalari street). Also the place in front of the Thessaloniki Music Hall was arranged so that pedestrian walkways are created while 60 parking places are eliminated.
Car-free day
Thessaloniki carries out a Car-free day 2012 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
