Thessaloniki organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2012, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
The mobility week will be officially announced at a Press Conference by the mayor and will be promoted by the municipal radio and TV.
Applying a rotating traffic restriction plan, four regional streets of the city will become temporary pedestrian streets during the week, while on Saturday 22 the center of the city will be restricted for private cars for 11 hours.

Several narrow streets occupied by parked cars on both sides were transformed so that a 3-meter wide pavement is created on both sides of the street, while no car can park anymore. Over 150 parking places were eliminated in these streets (Chrysostomou Smirnis street, Grigoriou Palama street, Romanou street, Filikis Eterias street, Morgendaou street, Lori Margariti street, Dimitriou Margariti street, Stratigou Kalari street). Also the place in front of the Thessaloniki Music Hall was arranged so that pedestrian walkways are created while 60 parking places are eliminated.

Thessaloniki carries out a Car-free day 2012 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
