The car-free initiative in Varna will take place on September 22, 2025, from nine in the morning until ten in the evening, with the main program starting after two o’clock in the afternoon. The initiative aims to engage residents and visitors in a diverse range of events, including talks, competitions, film screenings, and other thematic activities.
For the duration of the initiative, a central part of the city will be closed to car traffic and turned into a pedestrian-only area. The zone covers Knyaz Boris I Boulevard between Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard and Slivnitsa Boulevard, as well as Slivnitsa Boulevard between Knyaz Boris I Boulevard and Maria Luiza Boulevard.
This transformation will connect two of the city’s busiest pedestrian routes, linking the Cathedral and the Sea Garden. By extending the existing pedestrian zone for one day, the initiative will make it easier and safer for people to move through the city center, while also providing cleaner air in an area that is normally congested with cars and exhaust fumes.
