Bicycle-bag-challenge Twente
We are at the weekly market with a (funny)bicycle with bags and a cart full of groceries and ask people to add as much groceries to the bags as possible. There is also a price to win for the best participant: a bicyclebag. We will also ask people how they normally do their shopping, how long the journey is and if they come by car or bicycle and why.
The aim of the bicycle-bag-challenge is to encourage motorists in particular to use their bicycle for short journeys by allowing them to experience how many groceries fit in a bicycle bag at a shopping center or weekly market.
The current behavior of shoppers is that they often automatically use the car to do their shopping. This is not always a conscious choice. The conversation that takes place during the challenge is especially important. With this we try to make people aware of their behavior: their rational considerations, how long the journey is, whether the car is indeed the most obvious means of transport.
