Com a requalificação profunda da Av. 1.º de Maio, foram restabelecidas condições de mobilidade e acessibilidade para todos. Por outro lado, foram criadas condições para possibilitar a intermodalidade de transportes públicos, particulares e modos suaves de transportes, com a criação de uma extensa pista ciclável no centro urbano da cidade.
