Workshops for children: "How do animals cross the road?"
Interactive workshops for preschool and first graders. Children learn about traffic safety through stories, games, role play and models, while also exploring how animals cross roads and how we can help them with eco-bridges or underpasses.
Theatre performance and workshop: "Traffic Troubles"
A fun puppet theatre show featuring the bee Počasnela, who learns how to walk safely to school. After the show, children and parents join a workshop on safe behaviour in traffic.
"Walking Bus" (Pešbus) – Safe and social walk to school
Organised group walks to school with children accompanied by volunteers. The “Walking Bus” follows a set route and timetable, promoting safety, responsibility and active mobility.
"Kiss and Ride" – Drop-off zone in front of primary school
Introduction of a safe drop-off zone where parents can quickly and safely leave children before school. The initiative reduces traffic congestion and raises awareness among parents.
School Day: "Street Classroom" (temporary car-free school street)
Part of the school street is closed to traffic and turned into a safe outdoor classroom. Children take part in creative and educational workshops, cycling skills training and games.
Group workout session for senior citizens, focusing on mobility, balance and wellbeing. A simple and inclusive activity encouraging an active lifestyle among older residents.
Municipal challenge: "Around Slovenia through Pivka"
A community challenge where residents collectively aim to walk 1,382 km – the length of Slovenia’s border – during the week. Every kilometre counts, connecting all generations through walking.
Pivka carries out a Car-free day and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

On 19 September 2025, part of the street next to the Primary School Pivka will be closed to motor vehicle traffic and transformed into a safe, creative space. Children will enjoy outdoor workshops, cycling skills training, traffic safety games and art activities, turning the street into a lively classroom. The event promotes safe school environments, sustainable mobility and community gathering.
