The cycling club Metliška črnina will organize an autumn cycling trip around the municipality of Metlika for all those interested. The purpose of the trip is to spend your free time actively, take care of a healthy lifestyle and set a good example for children and young people, visit nearby points of natural and cultural heritage in the local area accessible by bicycle, and use a bicycle.

We will organize a trip by train from Metlika to Črnomlje and back for children from the Metlika Kindergarten (classes in the 5-6 year group) and their companions. At the stop in Črnomlje (Jurjevanjska draga or Griček), a fairy tale woman from the People's Library of Metlika will read them a fairy tale on the topic of traffic, or the main character in the fairy tale will be a train. As part of the tender, we will lease train tickets for children over 6 years old (if the need arises), their companions and a storyteller from the Folk Library of Metlika. Children will thus become familiar with public rail transport and its advantages.

The basic activity of the School of Health Association is the morning exercise "1000 movements". Thus, they preserve and improve the health of the inhabitants. They promote regular movement and physical exercise, maintain health for a long independent life, increase the proportion of the physically active population, restore the will to live to lonely and elderly people, strengthen the psychophysical condition of the elderly, prevent the course of chronic diseases and contribute to reducing the risk of developing depression and anxiety disturbances. To shed light on the rules of safe mobility in a fun way. With the help of traffic characters, learn the importance of using flares and other reflective elements in traffic. Encourage children to behave safely in traffic with the help of dialogues and songs.

Companions - employees of the Metlik Senior Citizens' Home, volunteers of the Slovenian Association for Mental Health ŠENT, the House of Fruits of Metlik and Karitas Metlik will take the physically challenged seniors from the Metlik Senior Citizens' Home on a walk "With strollers around the center of Metlik" and thus brighten their day. The mayor, Martina Legan Janžeković, will greet them in front of the city hall.
Caregivers will see all three Metli markets, located in the old town center, and learn a lot about their attractions. They will be greeted at the Metlika castle by a representative of the Metlika Belokranje Museum, who will briefly present the history of the museum. At the end of the walk, they will sweeten themselves with coffee and grapes from the nearby Belokranje vineyard in the castle courtyard, and get gifts from a local vendor.

The event will take place over two days, because on the first day there will be elderly people from the central unit of DSO Metlika and then on the next day from the dislocated unit of DSO Metlika.

On Monday, September 16, 2024, the Metlika Health Promotion Center will conduct a 6-minute walking test for the Metlika Pensioners Association and other visitors on the Town Square. Participants will be able to sweeten themselves with homemade apples from a local farm and quench their thirst with water. Participants with the best results will receive a convenient prize.

On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, the Metlik Health Promotion Center will organize blood pressure, blood sugar and fat measurements. We will also specially invite members of the Association of Pensioners Metlika and the Association of Disabled Persons Metlika to this event.

On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, the Metlik Health Promotion Center will raise awareness among visitors about how to maintain and care for a healthy smile. We will also specially invite members of the Association of Pensioners Metlika and the Association of Disabled Persons Metlika to this event.

With the competent institutions (municipal police and Komunala Metlika) we will register obstacles in the municipality of Metlika, and through various communication channels we will also invite citizens to register them themselves in their environment, and we will inspect them and eliminate short-term obstacles. Regarding obstacles that can be solved in the long term, we will discuss with our colleagues and prepare a proposal for their elimination, which will be sustainable over time. We will publish the results of the campaign on municipal communication channels.

Pešbus will be held in Metlika Primary School and Podzemelj Primary School. Parents will bring the children to a certain point, and from this point on, the students will walk to school accompanied by teachers or volunteers from the broom societies. They will set up stations, present the project to the students (and parents) and direct them to the nearest station, where teachers or volunteers will be waiting for them. In this way, children will gain an additional opportunity to make their way to school active, they will move more, they will be outside more, they will more easily develop social skills and independence, and they will also find their way around traffic better, which will contribute to their safety. The employees of the primary school will also have the opportunity to increase their activity for a healthier lifestyle

The Jumicar program teaches children how to behave in a traffic environment by putting them in the role of a driver and experiencing events in the way that a driver observes and perceives them in real traffic.
It is intended for children of the second triad of primary school. Children try their hand at driving mini cars that have real gasoline engines. The mini car contains all the elements of a real vehicle, from the seat belt, brake pedal and gas pedal.

We will organize an open street on the City Square on Saturday together with the Institute for Tourism, Culture, Sports and Youth of Metlika and the Sports Association of Metlika. Visitors will have the stands of Belokrajna providers active in the field of sports (there will also be a stand promoting the contents of sustainable mobility), a bicycle repair shop and a bicycle exchange, as well as interesting activities for young people - various exercise ranges (mini golf) and skill exercises. At the stand for sustainable mobility, we will collect opinions on the traffic regulations in the municipality of Metlika, as well as citizens' proposals for their changes. Their opinions and suggestions will be meaningfully evaluated and summarized in a publication on the municipality's website. The space will also have a relaxation corner for slightly older youth. The Saturday evening will be rounded off by the performance of the improv league on the theme of permanent mobility, with the participation of visitors in the debate. Pancakes and a healthy snack and drink will be available for visitors at the event. The intention is to close the square to traffic and open it to people. At the event, residents will be made aware of sustainable modes of mobility, their advantages for a clean environment and benefits for our health.
