The Town of Akureyri is participating in the week with a variety of events. The main event will be the so-called Accessibility Roll, held in collaboration with Sjálfsbjörg Akureyri and Virk efri ár, on Wednesday, September 17 at 4:30 p.m. The route will go from the Botanical Garden to the Sports Hall, about 400 meters. At the Sports Hall parking lot, participants will be offered grilled hot dogs and a conversation about their experiences. An accessible bus will also be on display, and guests will have the chance to try navigating small obstacles in a wheelchair under the guidance of Sjálfsbjörg. Municipal council members will take the route in wheelchairs provided by Sjálfsbjörg, thereby gaining insight into the daily experiences of people with reduced mobility. Everyone is welcome to join and take part in discussions about accessibility and barriers in the local environment.

All families that participate will be entered into a prize draw - the main prize is a Akureyri Family Health pass; access to the swimming pools and the ski lifts for a whole year for the family.
