The City of Barlassina has been promoting the "walking bus" for home-school travels since 2004. At the beginning of the new school year on September 2016, the Municipality, with the help of local volunteers, is going to offer this service for students. The local council has closed the road in front of the schools to vehicular traffic during the entry and exit time of students, by creating a wide and safe pedestrian zone. It has also activated an awareness campaign for families to improve walk to school instead of cars.
