Road safety
Raising Awareness on Road Safety for Children Over 10 Years Old, in collaboration with General Directorate of Road Transport Services of Albania and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
This initiative aims to raise awareness among children above the age of 10 regarding the importance of road safety. It envisions the creation of a dedicated public space equipped with the necessary road signage for vehicles and bicycles, designed specifically for children to learn and understand the principles of correct and safe mobility.
The project responds to the growing need for promoting cycling in the city, reinforces the role of the community in shaping sustainable urban culture, and supports the transformation of a current public parking area into a revitalized square. This new space will serve as a pedestrian and recreational zone, accessible and beneficial to all citizens.
The investment will commence in the near future as part of the Municipality’s strategy to transform the city into an environmentally friendly urban environment, fully aligned with its mission as a representative of the NetZero Emissions Cities initiative.

The Municipality launched on Sunday, September 21, Car-Free Day, with a ban on vehicle circulation along the main boulevard “Aqif Pasha” from 08:00 to 20:00, and on “Rinia” Street, from “Aleksander Xhuvani” University to the “Old Sport Pitch” sports fields, from 08:00 to 16:00.
