Activities within the week Activities within the week

Ilirska Bistrica organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2023, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
On the first of September 2023, we will introduce the importance of exercise, especially walking, to the youngest children from the Ilirska Bistrica kindergarten in a way that suits them and will take them for a walk around the town centre and its surroundings.

The Municipality of Ilirska Bistrica has already launched a barrier removal campaign in April 2023. Citizens were specifically addressed through the municipal newsletter Bistriški echoes. During European Mobility Week, the action will be even more intense. The municipal municipal inspector and the municipal traffic warden will carry out weekly inspections in their official capacity, and will be joined in the field by stakeholders who are competent and/or responsible for the removal of obstacles to be removed in the short and medium term during the week of 18-22 September 2023. From 1 September to 8 September 2023, the municipality will also accept appeals from the citizens of Ilirska Bistrica, who will be addressed via the municipal newsletter, the municipal website, the Facebook profile of the Municipality of Ilirska Bistrica and in person at the stand at the fair on 1 September 2023. It will review and take a decision on the calls during the following week, from 11 to 15 September 2023.

An action plan for medium and long-term removable barriers will also be launched in September, while we will try to remove short-term removable barriers already during the ETM 2023. The campaign will be presented on local TV on the closing day of this year's ETM, together with other ETM activities.
16 September
The Old Town will be closed to motorised traffic for the duration of the fair. There will be stands from local and regional suppliers in the car parks, and one to promote sustainable mobility and this year's ETM activities. At the stand, we will encourage calls for barrier removal (activity L), run a prize quiz on sustainable mobility and hand out leaflets to promote sustainable mobility.
We will hold a workshop for senior citizens on how to stay mobile. Participants will be encouraged to come to the event in a sustainable way. On this day, we will present the benefits of sustainable mobility to citizens. We will introduce them to the public passenger transport available in the municipality (especially the TIC BUS, the city's TIC BUS, the bath bus and the introduction of car-pooling) and the benefits of exercise, especially walking. We will then take a short walk around Ilirska Bistrica, pointing out the stopping points of the above-mentioned buses. The walk will end in the Old Town, which will be closed to motorised traffic on that day and where the fair will be held

Visitors will be encouraged to come to it in a sustainable way. The culinary event will again feature a stand to promote sustainable mobility in the municipality.
At least 50% of employees will get to work in a sustainable way: by walking, cycling, public transport and carpooling.
