Permanent measures
Udine implements one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.
Pedestrianisation
Create or enlarge pedestrian streets
Public transport services
Improvement and extension of the public transport services (express services, increase frequency etc)
set-up of two park-and-bus areas
Further info
A further park-and-bus scheme has been defined and arranged, to be implemented for this and future events (including when traffic limitations are in force, due to PM10 values over the EU limits). The scheme comprises the arrangement of two free parking areas outside the city centre, connected with public transport lines with shuttle function (improved/adapted service) and also providing an on site information/ticket office. Ad hoc informative material (maps and promotional messages) and signalization has been realized as well. (in co-operation with the local trasport operator).
Car-free day
Udine carries out a Car-Free Day 2008 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
The majority of the central area (most of the roads included within the urban ring) will be banned to motorized traffic and dedicated to exhibitions and to other recreational uses only accessible to pedestrians. The traffic limitations will interest several further road spaces, cmpared to past editions of the event.
