Public transport: Significant efforts are being made to reduce traffic hold-ups and improve the regularity of trams and buses in Oslo. A series of measures have been implemented for tram and bus stop upgrades, bus lanes, driving restriction, road signs and signage.

Traffic safety: Roundabouts are being installed at potentially dangerous junctions and safety improvements made to roads used bye school children.

Universal design: Typical measures done are sloped curbs at pedestrian’s crossings and other places pedestrians cross, as well as audible traffic signals.

Cycle parking: Around 100 new bicycle stands have been set up in the city.

Car-free day Car-free day

Oslo carries out a Car-Free Day 2010 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
