Quito organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2009, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
The local authorities of Quito are organising activities for their citizens in order to make a change towards more sustainable transport modes and to raise awareness about the critical effects of climate change such as:
"PeatónMan in the Concrete Jungle", children´s painting contest,
"Peatografia" Amateur photo competition about conflicts with pedestrians,
Institutional mobility plan: Promotion of use of bicycles for commuter traffic,
"Challenge of the 7 crossroads", cycle race in the Historical Centre,
Carpooling oriented at university students.

1 km of cycle path that links university areas with the main biking axe of the city and with one of the main public transport corridor

The municipality developed the Mobility Master Plan for the metropolitan District of Quito 2009- 2025 and also a specific Mobility Plan for the Historical Centre, considering that Quito has been declared as a world heritage site.
