County Galway organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2010, taking into account the annual theme.

European Mobility Week Photographic Competition

The photographic competition is based on the theme Travel Smarter, Live Better with 3 Categories, Primary School, Secondary School & An Adult Category.

European Mobility Week Poetry Competition:

The poetry competition is also based on the theme Travel Smarter, Live Better and is aimed at primary school and secondary school students. It is intened to publish a selection of the entries.

Radio Promotion:

During the period 13th - 17th September 2010, a promotion based on European Mobility Week 2010 is being run on the Breakfast Programme on a local radio station (Galway Bay FM) with a daily prize of a €150 voucher towards the purchase of a bicycle.

County Galway Walking & Cycling Strategy:

The pre-draft public consultation for the development of an integrated walking and cyclign strategy for the County of Galway will conclude during European Mobility Week 2010 leading to the development and subsequent implementation of the Strategy.

Bicycle Parking Infrastrucutre:

European Mobility Week will see the launch of an initiative to retrofit bicycle stands acorss the towns and villages in County Galway on a phased basis, including the roll out of bespoke bicyle racks promoting smarter travel.

Car-free day Car-free day

County Galway carries out a Car-free day 2010 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
