Parents’ Seminar – Work-Life Balance & Smart Mobility (WeeDRIVE)
Work, after-school activities, commuting, and household obligations – for parents, everyday life is a constant race against time, often with stress as a permanent passenger.
On the occasion of the European Mobility Week, this seminar is dedicated to stress management, achieving work–life balance, and discovering smart mobility solutions that can bring order and peace of mind to parents’ demanding routines. With expert advice, practical time management techniques, and a live presentation of the WeeDRIVE app, participants will explore how technology can act as a valuable ally for families rather than another source of pressure.
WeeDRIVE.app, presented during this seminar, has been developed as part of  the metaCCAZE project, co-funded by the European Union.

Further info
The Municipality of Limassol is actively transforming its urban fabric to promote sustainable, inclusive, and people-centred mobility, in line with its Climate City Contract and SUMP objectives.

A formerly neglected area, characterised by derelict parcels and a lack of purpose, has been revitalised through the inauguration of a pedestrian and cycling corridor along Aktaia Street. This project has brought vibrancy, daily activity, and safety to the city’s waterfront, converting what was once an almost unused space into a lively and accessible destination complete with paving, signage, street furniture, shading features, and improved connections.

At the same time, low-speed urban zones of 20 / 30 km/h are being implemented in the historic centre. Phase 1 (west of Anexartisias Street) is nearly complete — signage and selective one-way street conversions are already operational — while Phase 2 (east of Anexartisias) is under study. These zones aim to calm traffic, reduce noise, improve safety, and make walking and cycling more attractive.

Meanwhile, the city has launched a public tender for a Master Plan for Green Sustainable Corridors of approximately 20 km, combining pedestrian and cycling routes to connect schools, workplaces, residential areas, and public spaces. This plan will guide future infrastructure interventions, emphasising connectivity, shade, accessibility, and nature.

As part of its commitment to more flexible and smart mobility, Limassol is piloting WeeDrive within the framework of the EU project metaCCAZE, coordinated by MaaSLab — a pioneer research-based institute developing cutting-edge solutions to make the transport sector and cities more sustainable and climate neutral.

WeeDrive is an innovative MaaS-style application designed to provide safe, reliable, and scheduled door-to-door rides, particularly targeted at teenagers. With real-time tracking, trusted drivers, and planned routing, it enriches the mobility options available in the city and complements the Municipality’s active mobility and public transport strategies.

Together, these measures mark a paradigm shift for Limassol: from car-dominated or underused spaces to dynamic, safe, climate-resilient public realms where walking, cycling, and shared mobility are central to daily life.

Car-free day Car-free day

Limassol (Λεμεσός) carries out a Car-free day and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
