Further info
the measures on pedestrianization of the city is being continued. One of the most visited areas of Baku city centre for capital residents and tourists, the area around the Khagani garden, Rasul Rza, Khagani and Gogol streets around have been closed to the movement of cars.
Moreover, the movement of private cars in front of the "28 May" metro station and Baku Railway Station, which is one of the main transport hubs of the capital also has been restricted. The goal is to create a public transport HUB for the proper organization of traffic exchange and pedestrian flow at the junction, pedestrianization of the area and formation of a safe environment.
Currently both areas are being reconstructed and soon will be opened for the use of pedestrians.
Besides this, a network of bike lanes are being extended. It is planned to expand the network to 17 km covering the city, including the necessary infrastructure (parking, bike-sharing, etc.).
