Waterford organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2009, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
Commuter Challenge on 22nd September - the race is on between 3 types of transport in peak morning traffic: the bus, the bicycle and the car. Each will begin at the same point on the Dunmore Road on 22nd September to see which mode of transport will reach the city centre first. WLR FM are taking part in this challenge.

Poster competition for schools - a poster competition is being hald in both Primary and Secondary School over European Mobility to raise awareness about various modes of transport.

A display about climate change is being exhibited in Central Library, Lady Lane during European Mobility Week.

Information will be fed to local media to let people know how they can take part in European Mobility Week too.

Cycle Pods will be erected in John Roberts Square - these will allow cyclists to park their bikes safely inthe city centre.

Advance Stop Areas will be painted at various traffic lights in the city to facilitate cyclists.

Signs to promote sustainable travel will be put up around the city to encourage commuters to leave their car at home whenever possible.
