On August 2013 the pilot project "car free main square" was launched. Due to of EMW
the mobility board installed "car free main square" as a perment measure.
Therefore the main square "the heart of Linz" is closed
for cars and motorcycles on Saturday (18-24 o´clock)
and on sundays and public holidays (0-24 o´clock).
Car-free day
Linz carries out a Car-free day 2014 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
