Activities for the whole family in neighbourhoods
Activities for the whole family in the neighbourhoods: music, storytelling, puppets, magic, theatre...

Activities focused on children and families were organised both in the morning and in the afternoon and spread throughout the city: in Nazaret Market, Joaquín Muñoz Peirats Square, Cabanyal Market, Patraix Square and Algirós Market.

In the evenings, the presence of EMT was combined with the presentation of magic, storytelling and theatre shows aimed at all audiences in order to attract a large number of people and highlight the relevance of the event being held.

Performances: Mago Nuel Galán and ‘La princesa de la mochila amarilla’ (Parque Central); ‘El vendedor de humo’ (Plaza de Segovia); ‘Vertedero’ (Plaza de Benimaclet); ‘Momo’ (Parque del Oeste) and ‘Magic Bubbles’ (Parque de Orriols).

Traffic Management Centre
Open doors to the Valencia City Council's Traffic Management Centre (every day at 7p.m.), to find out how mobility management works in the city from this cutting-edge and technologically innovative centre located in the municipal corporation's Tabacalera building (11 Amadeo de Saboya Street). There were also visits the weekend before Mobility Week -14 and 15 September- at 11am, 12pm, 6pm and 7pm.

The visitors learned from the technicians working at the Centre how traffic regulation works in the city, how all the information is centralised and used to make decisions on mobility and optimise traffic conditions for all road users, how accidents and other incidents that may occur are detected and reported, the communication established with the Local Police, how citizens are informed of events that affect traffic, and much more.

Big European Mobility Week Party
Big Party of the European Mobility Week, on Saturday 21 September, in La Marina de Valencia.

From 10a.m. to 2p.m. and from 5p.m. to 9p.m. There we had the participation of Valenbisi with activities for children and adults: T-shirt painting workshop, OCA game, pedalling challenges ‘1 km in 3 minutes’ and prizes.

The Association of Driving Schools took part with its rollover simulator and, on the part of the City Council, there were bicycle repair workshops, a road safety circuit, a stand to make your own milkshake in exchange for pedalling and the usual children's activities organised by the EMT (face painting, raffles and roulette for prizes).

The whole day was enlivened by music for all ages. At 11a.m.. there was a performance of Cantajuegos with Tallarín the Clown, at 12:30p.m. and 6p.m. there was the presence of two music bands roaming around the area and, finally at 7p.m. there was a concert by Billy Boom Band.

The aim was to find a place to spend the day with the family and to raise awareness among the public about the need to change habits towards sustainable mobility.

Challenges EMT València
EMT València launched three exciting challenges through the Commutie platform. The aim was to promote sustainable mobility and encourage the use of public transport, cycling or walking by collecting data on the transport habits of citizens who agreed to download the App.

Participants who passed the challenges had the chance to win prizes such as annual passes and 30-trip bus passes, while contributing to the care of the environment.

ITS Road Safety Seminar and Vision Zero Awards Ceremony
On Friday 20 September, ITS Spain and the Association of Traffic Engineers and Mobility Technicians, in collaboration with Valencia City Council, CPS and the Intelligent Mobility Forum, organised the Urban Road Safety Day and the presentation of the Vision Zero Awards. Valencia was awarded for not having any traffic accidents with fatalities in 13 districts during 2023.

The conference also presented the results and short- and medium-term solutions following the audits carried out at four intersections in the city with a high accident rate.

Further info
1. Around 100 m2 of pedestrian space was recovered at the gates of the San Juan Bosco (Les Tendetes neighbourhood), Hermes (Patraix) and San Luís Gonzaga (En Corts) schools; and 11 school routes were signposted in Benicalap (to the Ciutat Artista Faller public school) and in the Illa Perduda neighbourhood (to the Santiago Grisolía school).

2. A secure parking for bicycles and personal mobility vehicles (PMVs) was put into operation in La Marina de València. This is the first private locker parking installed by the city council in the city to protect vehicles from theft, vandalism and inclement weather. The parking is managed through a mobile app, Novalty, which is intuitive and available for both Android and iOS, through which users can check the availability of spaces in real time and make a reservation in advance. For six months, until 18 March 2025, this secure parking will be available as a pilot test, at no cost to the administration and free of charge for users. The company will provide the València City Council with a monthly report on the date, type (bicycle or personal mobility vehicle), start and end time of each parking space.

3. Valencia City Council promoted the creation of the first "ciclobarrio" in the city of Valencia, specifically in the Russafa neighbourhood. The signage work was carried out during Mobility Week, and involved limiting the maximum speed to 20 kilometres per hour and reinforcing the message of shared space with bicycles and other personal mobility vehicles. Cycle connections were also created between the neighbourhood and the outside area, as well as cycle lanes to improve permeability.

4. The first 500 metres of the new cycle lane on Avenida del Cid have been opened. With the completion of the work, the whole of Avenida del Cid will be connected by cycle lane to the end of the municipal area. This is 1,100 metres of cycling infrastructure linking the neighbourhoods of La Luz and La Fontsanta with the rest of the western area (Nou Moles, Tres Forques and Patraix) and with the city centre. It also connects western Valencia with nearby municipalities such as Xirivella, Alaquàs and Aldaia in order to encourage the use of this means of transport with suitable conditions of accessibility and safety. The project has been awarded 45% of its initial budget through the European Next Generation funds.

5. Signalling of 8 kilometres of lanes reserved for EMT-Taxis on Avenida Francia and Avenida Aragón, Ángel Guimerá, Calle Linares, Avenida Antonio Ferrandis and Valle de la Ballestera. On all these roads, an exclusive lane was created for public transport, improving the traffic flow and frequency of both EMT València and taxis. With these 8 new kilometres, Valencia now has a total of approximately 65.5 kilometres of reserved EMT-Taxi lanes throughout the city.

6. Work began on improving the cycling connection at the intersection of Carteros and Llanera de Ranes, in the Jesús district. This project came out of the DecidimVLC 2020-2021 participatory budgets.
The aim of this action is to improve the current connection of the Carteros cycle lane with two one-way branches, 1.50 metres wide, and segregated at road level, connecting with the cycle lanes of Llanera de Ranes and Joaquín Navarro. The current Carteros pedestrian crossing will be moved to the north in order to adapt the new cycle lanes to the lowering and remodelling of the pavements. Pedestrians, in turn, will recover the width of the pavement and its exclusive use.

7. Launch of MOVIEMT, the first digital wallet with a monthly spending limit. Each validation will have the price of one journey of this fare option and will allow unlimited transfers for 1 hour (same operation as the bonobús) but when consumption exceeds 17.5 euros in a calendar month (equivalent to 41 journeys) all other journeys made during the month will be free of charge. In other words, however many journeys the user makes, the maximum price he or she will pay for monthly travel with EMT will be 17.50 euros. This is a national innovation. We are the first city and transport company in Spain to launch a 100% digitalised card with a maximum monthly spending limit. In this way, Valencia and EMT are at the forefront of innovation in public transport.
