Great Mobility Festival: Car-Free Day
To promote Car-Free Day, which will be celebrated on Monday 22 September, a gymkhana is proposed on a circuit set up along the Alameda road, on the section between the Exposición and Aragón bridges.
A family gymkhana in the street is an excellent way to celebrate European Mobility Week 2025 and spread its slogan, ‘Mobility for all,’ through activities that combine fun, awareness, and accessibility.
Objective: To raise awareness about the mobility challenges faced by different groups (children, the elderly, people with disabilities, etc.) while enjoying family time.

Further info
1) Cycle lane on Agustín Alamán Street (next to the Polytechnic University of Valencia). The bike lane on the sidewalk will be eliminated—making more space for pedestrians—and the street with two lanes in each direction will be converted into a bike lane with parking, in addition to two new pedestrian crossings to improve traffic flow.

2) Segregated bus lane on the Angel Custodio Bridge.

3) School routes (both vertical and horizontal signage) to the Jaume I and Nuestra Señora del Carmen schools.

4) Creation of a pedestrian zone at the entrances to Nuestra Señora de los Desamparados and SOM Escola schools. Improvements to the surroundings of the Mariner Humanist School are also underway.

5) New smart digital wallet using a credit card, allowing you to pay at a reduced rate for the first 41 bus trips per month, with unlimited free travel after that.

6) The Traffic Management Center (CGT) of the Valencia City Council has collaborated on activating alerts through the Waze application to improve road safety near 502 schools in the city and its outlying districts.

This measure will take effect with the start of the school year on Monday, September 8. To do this, the CGT individually contacted each school to gather student drop-off and pick-up times. This information has allowed them to program the alerts for the corresponding time slots, including a time buffer before and after to maximize their effectiveness, and even accounting for non-school periods.

The alerts also include the speed limits for the access roads to the schools, so drivers have this information and can adjust their driving accordingly.

Car-free day Car-free day

València carries out a Car-free day and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

- Free day on city buses

- Metrominuto Turia Gardens Park:
Objective: To promote contact with urban nature.
Action: Two groups will be formed. One will do the activity on foot and the other will do a cycling route, both organised with observation and environmental education activities.

- ‘Get around without a car’ competition on social media:
Objective: To engage young people and raise awareness of good practices.
Action: Photo competition on Instagram/Twitter. Participants must share a photo using sustainable means of transport with the hashtag #ValenciaSinCoche.
Prizes: EMT vouchers, bicycles, cultural tickets.

- Find the bus pass:
As part of Car-Free Day, EMT will distribute a bus pass on each bus as part of its commitment to sustainable mobility.
On each EMT vehicle that goes into service on that day, there will be a bus pass loaded with 10 trips that users can find and keep, asking them to
post it on social media, tagging EMT València.

Given the importance of celebrating ‘World Car-Free Day’, which, we recall, was an initiative to reduce car use, seeing that its large-scale use is damaging the environment, we call on citizens to give up this means of transport for one day and try new ways of getting around:
With the aim of carrying out high-impact actions, the free use of public transport during that day will be publicised.
