The second slowest bike ride in the world
At 1.30 pm, followed by 2.10 pm, 2.50 pm and 3.30 pm, "The second slowest bike ride in the world" will start, a tribute to the twinning with the Slow Cyclist Festival in Ferrara. The five-kilometre ride will include five stops - Movicentro, Parco Amilcare Merlo di Confindustria Cuneo, Museo Civico, Sala Mosca del Conservatorio di Cuneo, Museo Casa Galimberti - accompanied by music, poetry and stories of bicycles from times gone by. The event is organised in collaboration with the Culture Department of the Municipality of Cuneo, the Ghedini Conservatory of Cuneo, the Poeticôni festival and Confindustria Cuneo. At the first stop, at the Movicentro, participants will be able to enjoy a pop-jazz concert by the duo Viola Giraudo (vocals) and Michele Peirone (guitar), students at the Ghedini Conservatory in Cuneo, and will be treated to coffee or drinks from the new Movì Lounge Bar, which will be inaugurated a few hours later. At the Amilcare Merlo park in Confindustria Cuneo, with “La strada non presa: Poesie in bicicletta” (The road not taken: Poetry on a bicycle), the Poeticôni festival will offer a listening journey made up of words, verses and stories with the voices of Elena Cometto, Doria Babbini and Federico De Simone, who will bring to life poems and songs that “smell of greasy chains and wind in the eyes”, from Paolo Conte's “Bartali” to the verses of poets such as Giorgio Caproni and Pablo Neruda, where the bicycle becomes a companion for adventure and introspection. The third stop will be at the Civic Museum, where visitors can explore the first floor dedicated to ethnographic collections, local customs and traditions, with particular reference to the velocipede used in the early 20th century. In the Mosca room of the Ghedini Conservatory, there will be several performances by guitar duos and quartets, while the fifth stop will be the Casa Galimberti Museum, with a visit to discover the symbolic and historical role of the bicycle in the Italian Resistance.
