Car-Free Day - Ungheni is, according to mobilityweek.eu/2021-participants/, one of the two cities in the Republic of Moldova that joined, this year, the European Mobility Week, traditionally held between 16-22 September. In total, 3036 localities from 53 countries participate in this large-scale event.
On September 22nd, 2021, when World Car-Free Day is marked, the employees of Ungheni City Hall and of some public institutions from Ungheni organized a flashmob, urging people to walk as much as possible, because it is healthy.
At the same time, in order to encourage the use of bicycles as a means of traveling around the city over short distances, as well as the physical activity of the population, Ungheni City Hall team is currently working on a large project on the construction of bike lanes throughout the city.
