Participation 2008

The participant is committed to:

Organising a week of activities, taking into account the focal theme.
Actions relative to the theme:
Druring the whole week, we will ensure a Clean Air for All Awarness Campaign, through the distribution of informative leaflets, which highlights the link between air pollution, transport, health and well-being.
Carrying out a Car-Free Day event by closing one or more streets to traffic, and opening it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. This should preferably happen on 22 September to mark your town or city as part of World Car-Free Day.
Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Monday 22nd September is the highlight of the European Mobility Week with the creation of a temporary pedestrian area in the city centre.

From 11 am to 5 pm, streets will be open for bicycles, bus, hackneys and taxis only so pedestrians and shoppers can roam the streets with greater freedom, cleaner air and less stress. Shoppers and strollers will enjoy it!
Implementing one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.
Permanent measures implemented this year:
New forms of vehicle use and ownership
  • Launch of online car-pooling and car-sharing schemes
