Ramnicu Valcea organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2008, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
The European Mobility Week will be marked in Ramnicu Valcea by a various events, including a press conference, press releases, banners, info points and a series of events.

During the week, based on a Cooperation Protocol established with the County Schools Administration and the Environmental Agency, 3 info points will be placed in the crowded areas of the town in order to inform the citizens about the European Mobility Week.

On September 21 (the day we choose for 'In Town Without My Car!'), the main street of the town - Calea lui Traian - will be partial close to car traffic for 4 hours (between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.) and in this segment we will organize o series of events with the participation of local schools and young people from the city, events consist in street picture contest, concerts, rollers demonstrations and others activities.

Also, in the same day, in order to encourage the use of public transportation, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. the local transportation buses will run for free for every passenger.

Improving the local transportation subordinated to the local council by acquisition of 10 new buses and by modernization of all bus stations in the urban area and suburbs.

Construction of a new boulevard in the southern part of the town with a bicycle track.

Construction of a promenade along the right bank of Olt river with a roller track.

Encouraging open air activities by modernization of the local Zoo Park, by rehabilitation of Zavoi Park (the main public garden in town) and by establish a new park on Capela Hill.

Cooperation with local NGO's and local safety traffic office in order to establish bicycle tracks on the streets of the town.

Car-free day Car-free day

Ramnicu Valcea carries out a Car-free day 2008 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
