Uzhhorod organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2011, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
Uzhgorod city council started sustainable mobility actions at the very beginning of this year with introduction of permanent changes in the transportation scheme. Main actions taken were: closing of the central part of the city for the weekend (Friday evening - Sunday evening) and holidays; development of the bicycle lanes scheme and marking of the bicycle lanes; repair of the road surface at the main streets in the city; building of bicycle parking spots.

(1) Closure of the Dovzhenka street and central part of the city for the automobiles and public transport during weekends and holidays. This action was very much appreciated by inhabitants and guests of the city.
(2) First bicycle lane was opened along the river embankments in the city (5.8 km). This route is very popular among weekend and holiday bicycle riders and now it creates better conditions for people, especially newcomers, children and families for safe bicycle ride.
(3) New bicycle parking spot was established in the central part of the city. One more bicycle parking spot is planned to be build by the end of the year.
(4) Repair of the road surface at Mynajska street.

Car-free day Car-free day

Uzhhorod carries out a Car-free day 2011 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
