All week
During European Mobility Week, Aberdeen City Council and partners will be:
• Holding a series of bicycle roadshows throughout the region, giving schoolchildren, students, commuters and members of the public experience of riding various types of bike, as well as advice on cycle routes and safe cycling, encouraging more journeys to be undertaken by bike;
• Hosting the fourth annual Pedal for Scotland cycle challenge in Aberdeen, in partnership with Cycling Scotland;
• Organising a sponsored cycle ride of the local area with a cluster of schools in the north of the City;
• Organising road safety magic shows in schools, educating children how to keep safe when walking and cycling to school;
• Participating in an electric vehicle roadshow, organised by the Energy Saving Trust (Scotland), giving members of the public an opportunity to find out more about the benefits of electric vehicle (EV) ownership and to test drive EVs.
Half of the City's primary schools will also be engaged in the Living Streets Travel Tracker sustainable transport incentive scheme during this time, whereby those pupils regularly travelling actively to school are rewarded with collectible pin badges.
