The municipality of The Hague, Economic Board The Hague, the province Zuid-Holland, MRDH, and organisation Zuid-Holland Bereikbaar join forces to promote sustainable and active mobility and public transportation. Since 2019, the municipality of The Hague has been installing temporary bicycle platforms in parking spaces, at the request of residents. The space for parking a car is good for 8 bicycles. After positive results from opinion surveys, parking spaces have definitively been added to the sidewalk and provided with fixed bicycle racks. On Wednesday, September 18, we will celebrate the 75th installation of a bicycle platform! Together and in just 5 years many residents have created space in their streets for bicycles and made the sidewalks neat and accessible again.

The municipality, as an employer, encourages her employees to cycle. In collaboration with the MRDH an e-bike pool is set up for employees to experience what it's like to ride the e-bike to a meeting somewhere in the city ('business trips') or to bridge the distance between home and work. During the European Mobility Week employees of the Municipality are called to register for renting an e-bike for two weeks, for free!
