Further info
We are introducing a completely new lighting system along a cycle path, the "Active lights"-system. The LED-lights are powered by solar cells and are equipped with motion detectors. The lights illuminate one by one when a cyclist is approaching and turns off when the cyclist has passed.

This year we are also constructing a tunnel for bicyclists and pedestrians, making a safe passage between a major living area and a major shopping area (Erikslund).

Two public bicycle pumps pumps are placed on key routes in the city

A new bicycle plan adopted earlier this year, including an action plan for the years 2009-2013

New bicycle parking for train commuters south of the railway station

A large scale program of accessibility measures to meet the national demands for accessible public space before 2010.

New path for walking and cycling between Hässlö in the outskirts of the city, and the new dwelling area Gäddeholm.

A Bicycle Barometer is installed at an important bicycle path. The Barometer counts the number of cyclists and displays the amount on a screen visible to bicyclists as well as car drivers. This way, car drivers can see that bicycling issues are important for the traffic planners.
