Detailed description (English): The association Ruedas Redondas invites all citizens to join a major festive and reivindicative bike ride on September 21, as part of the Ecofestival 2025 and the European Mobility Week: Mobility for All. With this action we aim to highlight a long-standing demand: the creation of a safe cycling route along Málaga’s seafront, connecting the eastern districts with the rest of the city and with nearby municipalities such as Rincón de la Victoria.
At present, no such connection exists, creating a serious gap in active mobility and discriminating against those who do not own a motor vehicle yet must make these daily journeys. Moreover, Málaga remains one of the large Spanish cities with the fewest kilometers of bike lanes per inhabitant, underlining the urgent need for a safe, continuous, and interconnected cycling network.
The bike ride will be a community event where, by pedaling together in a festive and family-friendly atmosphere, we will show that the bicycle is a real and necessary alternative: a sustainable, healthy, efficient, and accessible means of transport, capable of improving urban quality of life and building community.
Detailed description (original language): La asociación Ruedas Redondas invita a toda la ciudadanía a sumarse el próximo 21 de septiembre a una gran bicicletada festiva y reivindicativa, enmarcada en el Ecofestival 2025 y la Semana Europea de la Movilidad: Movilidad para todos. Con esta acción queremos visibilizar una demanda histórica: la creación de una ruta ciclable segura a lo largo del litoral de Málaga, que conecte la zona este con el resto de la ciudad y con municipios cercanos como Rincón de la Victoria.
Hoy por hoy no existe una conexión ciclable en este eje, lo que supone un grave obstáculo para la movilidad activa y una discriminación para quienes no disponen de vehículo a motor pero necesitan realizar sus desplazamientos diarios. A ello se suma que Málaga sigue siendo una de las grandes ciudades españolas con menos carriles bici por habitante, lo que pone de manifiesto la necesidad urgente de una red ciclista segura, continua e interconectada.
La bicicletada será una jornada de encuentro ciudadano en la que, pedaleando juntos en un ambiente festivo y familiar, demostraremos que la bicicleta es una alternativa real y necesaria: un medio de transporte sostenible, saludable, eficiente y accesible, capaz de mejorar la calidad de vida urbana y de construir comunidad.
Target group(s): The target group for this activity is the general public, with special focus on families and young bicycle users who rely on cycling for their daily mobility in the city.
Objectives: The objectives are to promote the use of bicycles in urban mobility and to highlight the need for safe cycling infrastructure that connects coastal municipalities through a dedicated bike lane, thereby reducing car use for these interurban trips.
