Detailed description (English): The streets of Malaga city centre will be full of cyclists for a few hours next Sunday 22nd September to celebrate World Car-Free Day, within the Mobility Week to demand ‘shared public space’. Starting at 11 a.m.
The Big Bike Ride organised by Ruedas Redondas (the local advocacy association) is a festive and also a protest and will go through various streets in the city centre. It will start from the esplanade of the Port towards the Alcazaba Tunnel until reaching the Victoria neighbourhood and back. .
Along the way, the cyclists will cross the areas of the city of Malaga where the cycling infrastructure is non-existent or its state is precarious.
This Big Bike Ride is intended to be a wake-up call to all the Officials to once and for all promote sustainable mobility in Malaga, a city at the bottom of the list in cycling infrastructure.
Objective: “To demand that the Central, Autonomous and Local Governments create safe cycling infrastructures and promote the use of bicycles in cities. Coinciding with the World Car-Free Day and the European Mobility Week, we demand a safe shared space for bicycles and the monitoring of compliance with maximum speeds in urban environments.”
Detailed description (original language): Las calles del centro de Málaga serán ciclistas durante unas horas el próximo domingo 22 de septiembre para celebrar el Día Mundial Sin Coches, dentro de la Semana Europea de la Movilidad para reivindicar ‘espacio público compartido’. Comenzando a las 11h en el puerto de Málaga.
La Gran Bicicletada organizada por Ruedas Redondas festiva y también reivindicativa y recorrerá diversas calles del centro de la ciudad. Partirá de la explanada del Puerto dirección Túnel de la Alcazaba hasta llegar al barrio de la Victoria y vuelta. .
Por el camino, los ciclistas atravesarán las zonas de la ciudad de Málaga donde la infraestructura ciclista es inexistente o su estado es precario.
Se pretende que esta Gran Bicicletada sea una llamada de atención a todas las Administraciones para que impulsen de una vez por todas la movilidad sostenible en Málaga, ciudad a la cola en infraestructura ciclista.
Objeto: “Reclamar al Gobierno Central, Autonómico y Local la necesidad de crear infraestructuras ciclistas seguras y promover el uso de la bicicleta en las ciudades. Coincidiendo con el día mundial sin coche y la semana europea de la movilidad reclamamos un espacio compartido seguro para la bicicleta y la vigilancia del cumplimiento de las velocidades máximas en los entornos urbanos”.
