Detailed description (English): Electrification is shaping the future of mobility, but its rollout in Spain is progressing at a slow pace. Global political, social, and economic uncertainty — including trade tensions and geopolitical conflicts — is compounded by the challenges Spain faces in this process: still-high prices, delays in the deployment of charging infrastructure, administrative complexity, and a lack of consumer confidence in the ability of electric vehicles to meet their mobility needs.
To address these challenges, the RACC Mobility Institute, in collaboration with Alinnea (a think tank based at IE University and supported by the European Climate Foundation), is organising a new edition of the Mobility Institute Talks as part of European Mobility Week 2025. The session will examine the present and future of mobility electrification in Spain, as well as the levers that can accelerate this transition.
Target group(s): Urban mobility and Transport sector experts.
Objectives: (1) Disseminate the main findings and key insights of the report “Analysis of Electric Mobility in Spain: Current Status, Bottlenecks, and Recommendations to Increase Electric Vehicle Adoption,” produced by Alinnea, a Climate Working Group hosted by IE University, in collaboration with RACC.
(2) Facilitate a high-level discussion on the current landscape and future outlook of e-mobility in Spain with leading representatives from the country’s urban mobility sector.
